Google said that it has implemented a new account verification layers for its online services at an event called Google Atmosphere, Paris. As I know this type of verification or authentication is called as 2-Factor authentication, which I have developed for a bank project.
First launched for Google Apps Premier, Education and Government Edition, the new two-factor authentication allows administrators to add extra layer of security for user login. It requires a combination of password and a verification code sent to users mobile phones.
This authentication service works as the user types login name and password, and then he has to type an extra verification code generated by Google system and sent to user's mobile phone. It is just like a generating a code using token, which we usually see with banking applications.
As per Google this feature will be added to all Google applications and Google App Standard Edition in near future. Google is going to launch mobile editing in Google Docs for Android and iPad soon.
