Consulting practice of Wipro, relatively small compared to its peers, has seen some traction in the market and the company plans to build on that
Wipro Technologies is revamping the front-end of its consulting business to sell services more effectively and expects to add about 300 consultants by the year-end. The company has a team of 1,180 consultants for various domains and verticals.
"We are effectively re-hiring our front-end (staff) and are creating a new consulting group," said T.K. Kurien, President, Wipro Consulting Services, Global Programs and Strategic Initiatives. "The mandate of the consulting group is to change the face of Wipro. It will also change the quality of deals coming in."
The consulting practice of Wipro, which is relatively small compared to its peers, has been seeing some traction in the market and the company plans to build on that to create an impact.
"The idea was to lead in with consulting so that we create downstream projects. Our ambition is to become the largest design shop in the world," Kurien said, adding that the company planned to have a team of some 1,500 consultants by the year-end.
Wipro plans to effectively tap the downstream revenues from the spurt in short-term transformational projects that it has seen in the past two quarters.
