Deleting your Facebook account is a lot harder than it sounds, requiring users to navigate a thicket of menus to submit a request to zap their profiles. Now comes word that Facebook is testing a "delete account" link that would be far easier to find, if not easier to execute.
According to a post on Slashdot, a number of Facebook users are seeing a tweaked option under their Account Settings page: Instead of "Deactivate Account," which merely hides your profile for a designated period of time, the new option reportedly reads "Deactivate or Delete Account."
The link then takes you (apparently, anyway; the option hasn’t appeared under my account yet) to the standard Facebook account deletion process, which involves entering your account password and a "captcha" string of text, then waiting up to two weeks for your account to actually be deleted. If you happen to log into your Facebook account before the 14 days are up, your submitted deletion request will ... er, be deleted.
