LeBron James certainly didn't endear himself with the people of Cleveland after leaving his home state to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. While some fans in Cleveland shed tears and burned James Cavaliers' jersey, no one expressed their disappointment in James in a more bombastic manner than Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, who eviscerated his former franchise savior in a scathing letter to fans on the team Web site.
Gilbert, who purchased the team in 2005, likely understands what losing James means to his franchise financially, with the sellout crowds and the checks coming from deep playoff runs likely to cease for some time. But he let his emotions flow as he angrily called James "the self-titled former King" while claiming that his televised announcement was "shameful display of selfishness and betrayal."
Using an odd Comic Sans font -- which adds to the ridiculous nature of the evening -- Gilbert proclaimed that the Cavaliers would win a championship before the Heat and concluded by sending a hex toward James. "The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma. Just watch. Sleep well, Cleveland."
