Employees of a Sector V-based IT firm which allegedly shut down before clearing their dues staged an agitation and blocked the road in front of their office on Thursday to highlight their plight.
Affected staff of Assurgent Technology Solutions said they also planned to move court against the company, which has allegedly not paid nearly 2000 engineers statewide. An FIR against some of the firm?s top brass has already been filed in the Bidhan Nagar (East) police station.
?A branch manager of the company has been arrested in Durgapur last month. But the others are still at large,? claimed Md Parwej, an Assurgent employee. Assurgent is the second company after ANI Infogen Global to have downed its shutters without making requisite payments to their employees. About 1,000 trainee engineers had suffered through the ANI closure.
?Job seekers should be more vigilant while selecting the company they choose to join and also be very careful while paying them money in the form of a security deposit,? state IT minister Debesh Das reiterated during the day.
Assurgent staff, though, said they are quite disappointed with both the government and the Opposition to whom it had also turned for help.
