INDIA IS WHERE OUR FUTURE LIES

 IT News     No comments

Capgemini Norway operations registered a growth of 12 percent in 2008 and its revenues stood at 1,150 million NOK. "The year 2008 was a record year for Capgemini Norway. Our margin increased from 6.6 percent in 2007 to 6.8 percent in 2008. Our outsourcing model, Rightshore, has seen tremendous growth of 50 percent from 2007 to 2008," said Capgemini Norway CEO Kjell Andr' Engen. He said the company was confident of coping efficiently and getting through the economic crisis that the world is currently facing.

Engen pointed out that 2009 would be a challenging year for everyone in the IT industry and the company is extremely focused on executing its strategy. Capgemini Norway is aiming at becoming the leading IT solution providers and consultancy services in Norway in the areas of financial services (FS), public sector as well as energy, utilities and chemicals sectors (EUC). "Growth in India is an important aspect of this strategy. The increased demand for Rightshore solutions is proof that we are able to stay competitive and deliver good value to our customers," he added.

The company is upbeat about the India growth potential. "India is where our future growth lies. Our global delivery model Rightshore means that we deliver projects to our customers with the expertise from our global delivery centres blended with our local skills," Engen said. Infact, the IT Company's India and Norwegian operations work in sync. The firm frequently brings in Indian expertise and competence into various projects at Norway. There are around 200 Indians working on Norwegian projects for Capgemini Norway from the Indian office.

Business information management is one of the crucial challenges that most corporate entities are currently facing and the technology and consultancy firm believes this a huge business area for growth. Talking about the other potential growth areas for the company,

Engen said, "In terms of sectors, I think the public, energy and utility sectors will see a transformation over the next few years. The way we interact with state or municipal authorities is outdated, and there are significant savings to be made in terms of money and manpower by using information technology more effectively. Some modernisation projects for public sector have already started.

"In the energy and utility sector, the company believes there is scope for using IT solutions to run operations economically while using fewer resources. Capgemini is headquartered in Paris and is a leading European IT services company. It currently offers a variety of services such as system integration, outsourcing and application management. "As part of our way of working with our customers, we tailor the outsourcing solution for each and every project, making sure that the teams both in Norway and in India have the right skills and capabilities and are able to collaborate optimally," summed up Engen.
